I had a post last week that surfaced from some thoughts I've been having lately... In my post, I stated how every morning as I catch up on my respectable news reporting outlets, lately I have to take ten to wrap my brain around the latest advances towards a full scale war that has taken place the night before in the Middle East, and what that could mean to me and my family. It leaves me feeling uneasy and uncertain at first, then the primal forces set into a deep dive of what is left on the list of things I must accomplish before the SHTF in whatever shape or form.
The world is getting crazier by the day, and we can't afford to stick our heads in the sand. The talk of potential conflict with Iran and other countries is real, and our borders are like a leaky faucet, letting in whoever wants to stroll in. We've got to be real about the threats we're facing and take charge of our own safety.
Knowing the Score: Many are not living the American dream lifestyle anymore. The international scene is heating up, and we need to be on our toes. While politicians do their dance, we've got to acknowledge the possibility of getting into some serious business with Iran and others. And let's not kid ourselves – our borders are a mess. Illegal immigrants crossing left and right? That's a red flag for potential trouble on our turf.
Getting Battle-Ready: In times like these, you can't just hope for the best; you've got to prepare for the worst. Here's the lowdown on how to defend your turf:
-
Stay in the Know: Don't be clueless. Stay plugged into the news, and don't just trust any old source. Get the real deal on what's happening in the world and on our borders.
-
Family Battle Plan: Ever had that awkward talk with your family about what to do in a crisis? Well, now's the time. Plan your escape routes, set up communication channels, and pick your meeting spots. It's basic survival 101.
-
Fight Like You Mean It: Self-defense isn't just for the movies. Consider getting some real-world self-defense training. You never know when those skills might come in handy. Crime rates are continuing to go up and if and when times hit so hard that the moral man who just wants to feed his family decides he can take yours, how are you going to protect it? We need to be thinking on this level. I suggest loading up on ammo. If you haven't been, then start setting aside funds every month for it. Slowly build your reserve.
-
Neighbors Matter: You're not an island. Get to know your neighbors. Strengthening your community is like having extra backup when things get tough.
-
Stock Up: Don't be caught unprepared. Stock up on essentials – canned goods, bins of essentials foods sealed in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers, water (bottled and tanks), medical supplies, and tools. Be the one who's got a plan when chaos hits. A designated room or large closet should be assigned to put your stockpile in an orderly fashion. Everything should be in packs, bags, tanks, or bins in case you need to flee and transport it easily and quickly. You should be able to grab everything except large tanks of water.
